About us
Welcome to Modern Relationships, a safe and casual space to explore the intricacies of modern relationships – a podcast brought to you by a group of students from the University of Nottingham Malaysia.
The ways in which we engage in sexual and romantic relationships have changed drastically in recent times; we no longer only prescribe to the notion of the “traditional, monogamous relationship.” In this podcast, we explore the changing landscape of modern relationships, why it is the way it is, and the different ways in which they work.

While it’s easy to take the idea of cheating, friends with benefits, and open relationships simply as they are at face value, we learn that there are also many facets to these which we may not realize. Why is cheating seen as such a betrayal? What even constitutes cheating in today’s digitalized world? Why do we crave intimacy from people other than our partners? How do you negotiate friends with benefits and open relationships? What is a friends with benefits relationship anyway? Do open relationships actually result in more closeness between couples? These are just some of the questions we’ll be pondering on in the podcast – through deep dives into existing research and first-hand accounts from guest speakers.

Come along with us as we try to figure out what exactly “modern relationship” means!
